She personally visited each newcomer with a warm welcome and a basket of goodies, including coupons for local stores and valuable information about the community. She was what we might call today, the “Google “ source. Everyone who was visited by her remembers her as a lovely, warm and welcoming person. She went out of her way to make women new to the area, feel that they were among friends. After her personal visit, Martha would send each newcomer a personally written invitation to join other members at a monthly luncheon, usually held at a local restaurant. In addition, to foster friendships, newcomers were invited to someone’s home for a meet and greet coffee with other new and existing members.
