August 2025
Last month BHNC hosted a very special outdoor luncheon at Washington Park. Nearly 50 members attended a picnic event that combined great food, community connection, and an insightful presentation from the San Mateo Police Department. We were honored to welcome Lt. Anthony Riccardi, who shared an engaging overview of the department’s drone program. For many of us, it was the first time seeing a drone in action, and the live demonstration was nothing short of fascinating! Lt. Riccardi patiently answered all questions, explained how drones are used in law enforcement, and gave us a deeper understanding of modern public safety tools. Our members left with a new appreciation for the work of local law enforcement and the innovative ways they help to keep our communities safe.
The event was such a success that BHNC sent a formal letter of appreciation to Captain Jennifer Maravillas of the San Mateo Police Department, thanking both the San Mateo Police Department and Lt. Riccardi for his time and outstanding presentation..
A heartfelt thanks to Diane Flannigan and Jean Lombardi for organizing this wonderful event, and to Mary Anne Ward and Julie Hitchcock, for coordinating this special program with the San Mateo Police Department. We are also so grateful to all the volunteers who helped set up, clean up and made the day run smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without you!
We’re so glad so many of you came out to enjoy this event. We look forward to more opportunities to learn, connect, and have fun together. Keep an eye out for upcoming programs!
Warmly,
Linda
